How many mainstream schools are there in Stockton-on-Tees?
Stockton-on-Tees has 47 state mainstream schools (41 primary and 6 secondary). In January 2026, at its primary schools, 14.6% of pupils got SEN support and 4.2% had an EHC plan (England: 15.4% and 4.1%); at its secondary schools, 15.1% of pupils got SEN support and 3.3% had an EHC plan (England: 14.1% and 3.5%).
Which mainstream schools in Stockton-on-Tees have an SEN unit or resourced provision?
Billingham South Community Primary School, Bowesfield Primary School, Conyers School, Egglescliffe School, Hardwick Green Primary Academy, High Clarence Academy, Junction Farm Primary School, Mill Lane Primary School, Myton Park Primary School, North Shore Academy, Northfield School and Sports College and Our Lady & St. Bede Catholic Academy, and 10 more. They are listed with the area’s special schools.
How do I get SEN support at a mainstream school?
Talk to the class teacher and the school’s SENCO (special educational needs co-ordinator). Your child doesn’t need a diagnosis. If they need more help than the school can usually give, you or the school can ask Stockton-on-Tees council for an EHC needs assessment.
What do the figures mean?
SEN support is help in school without an EHC plan; an EHC plan is a legal plan from the council for children who need more. The figures show how many children a school supports, not how well, so talk to the SENCO and read the school’s SEN information report.
