How many mainstream schools are there in Leeds?

In January 2026, at its primary schools, 19% of pupils got SEN support and 1.8% had an EHC plan (England: 15.4% and 4.1%); at its secondary schools, 16.2% of pupils got SEN support and 2.2% had an EHC plan (England: 14.1% and 3.5%).

Which mainstream schools in Leeds have an SEN unit or resourced provision?

Allerton Grange School, Allerton High School, Beeston Hill St Luke's Church of England Primary School, Bishop Young Church of England Academy, Bramley Park Academy, Brigshaw High School, Carr Manor Community School, Corpus Christi Catholic College, A Voluntary Academy, East Ardsley Primary Academy, Garforth Academy, Ireland Wood Primary School and Iveson Primary School, and 8 more. They are listed with the area’s special schools.

How do I get SEN support at a mainstream school?

Talk to the class teacher and the school’s SENCO (special educational needs co-ordinator). Your child doesn’t need a diagnosis. If they need more help than the school can usually give, you or the school can ask Leeds council for an EHC needs assessment.

What do the figures mean?

SEN support is help in school without an EHC plan; an EHC plan is a legal plan from the council for children who need more. The figures show how many children a school supports, not how well, so talk to the SENCO and read the school’s SEN information report.
