Questions parents ask
How many mainstream schools are there in Slough?
Slough has 30 state mainstream schools (20 primary, 9 secondary and 1 all-through or middle). In January 2026, at its primary schools, 13% of pupils got SEN support and 4.6% had an EHC plan (England: 15.4% and 4.1%); at its secondary schools, 9.7% of pupils got SEN support and 2.5% had an EHC plan (England: 14.1% and 3.5%).
Which mainstream schools in Slough have an SEN unit or resourced provision?
Baylis Court Nursery School, Castleview Primary School, Chalvey Nursery School & Early Years Centre, Colnbrook Church of England Primary School, Ditton Park Academy, Marish Primary School, Phoenix Infant Academy, Priory School, Slough and Eton Church of England Business and Enterprise College, Slough Centre Nursery School, St Ethelbert's Catholic Primary School and The Godolphin Junior Academy, and 3 more. They are listed with the area’s special schools.
How do I get SEN support at a mainstream school?
Talk to the class teacher and the school’s SENCO (special educational needs co-ordinator). Your child doesn’t need a diagnosis. If they need more help than the school can usually give, you or the school can ask Slough council for an EHC needs assessment.
What do the figures mean?
SEN support is help in school without an EHC plan; an EHC plan is a legal plan from the council for children who need more. The figures show how many children a school supports, not how well, so talk to the SENCO and read the school’s SEN information report.
