Questions parents ask
How many mainstream schools are there in Lambeth?
Lambeth has 57 state mainstream schools (46 primary, 10 secondary and 1 all-through or middle). In January 2026, at its primary schools, 16.6% of pupils got SEN support and 5.8% had an EHC plan (England: 15.4% and 4.1%); at its secondary schools, 15% of pupils got SEN support and 4.3% had an EHC plan (England: 14.1% and 3.5%).
Which mainstream schools in Lambeth have an SEN unit or resourced provision?
Allen Edwards Primary School, Archbishop Sumner Church of England Primary School, Crown Lane Primary School, Dunraven School, Ethelred Nursery School and Children's Centre, Henry Fawcett Primary School, Hill Mead Primary School, Jubilee Primary School, La Retraite Roman Catholic Girls' School, Larkhall Primary Campus, Lilian Baylis Technology School and London Nautical, City of London Academy, and 8 more. They are listed with the area’s special schools.
How do I get SEN support at a mainstream school?
Talk to the class teacher and the school’s SENCO (special educational needs co-ordinator). Your child doesn’t need a diagnosis. If they need more help than the school can usually give, you or the school can ask Lambeth council for an EHC needs assessment.
What do the figures mean?
SEN support is help in school without an EHC plan; an EHC plan is a legal plan from the council for children who need more. The figures show how many children a school supports, not how well, so talk to the SENCO and read the school’s SEN information report.
