What is ADHD?

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurological difference that influences how a person regulates attention, energy levels, impulses, organisation, and everyday activities.
A person will have a persistent pattern of a variety of presentations which might also include inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity which interferes with daily life.

The persistent pattern must be present for at least six months, have an onset before the age of 12 and challenges that present both at home and in school. Late identified adults will undergo assessments which take them back to childhood.

At last six challenges need to exist for children up to the age of 16, and five for adolescents & adults. In adults, the working patterns are also taken into consideration. An Assessor will require clear evidence that the presentations interfere with, or reduce the quality of social, academic or occupational functioning.
